Idaho Forest Group’s Electrical Supervisor has gotten tired of fixing and replacing Axis cameras on the line when they went out of focus. He tried some Opticom Tech cameras, and now that he knows there’s a better option, he’s replacing the Axis cameras with Opticom Tech cameras, which stay in focus even in the high vibration of a sawmill.
“My plan is to replace the Axis cameras on the HewSaw line as they fail with Opticom cameras. There are several places that are subject to quite a bit of vibration, and one of the biggest issues on the Axis cameras is the zoom and focus. It might be the vibration or dirt, but after some time they won’t focus or zoom any more. We are constantly having to focus them.
Some just fail and some get out of focus and won’t go back into focus. I’ve had a few that I was able to blow out the dust inside the gears and get back into focus but even then its a pain. I would say its 50/50 the
focus and ones that just fail.”
