Video Cameras that Can Withstand Log Debarker Vibration
Robust, industrial cameras

Opticom cameras can withstand the harsh environment of log debarkers

Sawmills are high-vibration, debris-filled environments—qualities that don’t generally mesh well with video monitoring technology. But Opticom’s industrial cameras, mounts, and monitors can withstand the harshest environments, including log debarkers.

One of our customers, a sawmill in Mississippi, was using a camera to monitor its log debarker. But they were having to replace the camera almost weekly. That gets expensive fast, no matter how cheap each camera is.

We hooked the sawmill up with a CC02 camera and our industrial vibration mount. That was more than six years ago. In that time, he’s had to replace the bracket mount just once, and the original camera is still working.

The mill went from replacing cameras every week—and the time and cost that goes into doing so—to replacing one component every 6+ years.

The camera and mount are constantly vibrating; are surrounded by dust and debris, and get hit with wood chips, rocks, glass, and more. But they hold up. And they hold up in sawmills on log debarkers. Most cameras and video systems can’t say that, but Opticom can.
